Halloween

Wow. So this is a little bit late. Here are pictures of our Halloween kiddies and carving pumpkins. It was such a fun holiday. Rylee loved it. Her candy only lasted a few days, but they made great "potty treats." She is almost there with the potty training. YAY!!!

Rylee is 3

Wow. It has been so long since I posted anything. October was just crazy. With hunting season (Cole didn't get anything) and trips to Idaho and Tiare's wedding, we kept really busy. It was fun. So, we were in Idaho for Rylee's birthday (I can't beleive she's three already- my how time flies). Here's her birthday and pictures I got at Kiddie Kandids.

I'll post Halloween stuff later. Gotta get it off my camera first. Thanks.

Cade 6 months old!

Cade is now six months old! I can't believe it. We went to the doctor the other day and here are his stats:
Weight- 15 lbs 3 oz
Height- 26 3/4 inches
He is in the 25th percentile for weight (he hasn't gained anything since his last appointment- Dr said that's normal though) and 60th percentile for height. The Dr said he's just filling his genetic potential to be tall and skinny :)

He can crawl. He is getting so fast. I have to clear out the area (from whatever Rylee has left there) before I set him down. He has a tooth!! Finally! I saw the signs of it coming like a month ago. But now it's here and it's so sharp.

I guess that's about it from here. I need to write about our daily "routines" that we do, so maybe soon.

Funny sayings

I've been keeping a list of funny things that Rylee says. Here they are:

- hossipal is hospital
- cannawope is cantaloupe
- pocksables is popsicles
- She loves watching Harry Potter and says spells with a pencil pointing at me. Her favorite is "ocularis repairo" It's so funny to see.
- "he tell me what to do" when she asks Dad if she can have something and the answer is no. (you have to picture this with a pouty face and whiney voice)
- hakuna anatama is Hakuna Matata from the Lion King.

She's a talker and she loves talking on the phone. So that's a few words that have interpretaions.

Cade is getting bigger. His first tooth finally poked through on Sunday- it's so sharp. And he can officially crawl now. He's been scooting around for a couple of weeks (getting into all of Rylee's toys- and she hasn't been too happy about that), but yesterday he got on his hands and knees and really crawled. He just needed some motivation. We were at Aunt Karma's on a blanket outside under her tree and he wanted to eat all of the fallen leaves on the ground. I'm sure he got some that I didn't see. Oh, what a cutie. He sure hammed it up for Karma- smiling and giggling at her. Here's Rylee and I'll get some of Cade up soon:

YAY!! We love high-speed!

:::::::::::::: Africa Day :::::::::::::::::

Rylee wanted to wear her Africa dress to church on this Sunday, so I let her wear the necklace too. I put mine on and we got this cute picture. Cade is wearing Cole's blessing outfit. Aren't we cute!

:::::::::::::::::::::: haircuts :::::::::::::::::::::::

I gave the kids haircuts a couple of weeks ago. Cade got a little trim- mostly to get rid of the long hair over his ears. He was a little wiggly, but it went ok. Here's a picture.

After:
Rylee had to be bribed with popsicles so that she would hold still. I just got sick of the torture of hair combing every day. So we cut it short. I think I took about 6 inches off. Here's the pictures:

:::::::::::::::::: camping ::::::::::::::::::::

Last weekend, Aug 4-5, we went camping up the canyon. It was so much fun. The weather was perfect- not too hot, not too cold at night. Here some funnies though: Roasting marshmallows before dinner, Cole had 4 on his stick and they were perfectly brown and gooey, and Rylee says "Look mom, it's poopy." Ohh, silly kid. Rylee loved going to the little creek and throwing rocks in (I think Aunt Maria taught her at the 4th of July picnic). My favorite was sleeping that night (or lack of sleeping). I put Cade down to sleep first at about 8:00. Then after we finished dinner and marshmallows, I put Rylee in the tent in her own sleeping bag. Well, with Cade in there too, she immediately woke him up with "Hey, little guy!" And wanted to play with him. Anyway, she was playing around in the tent until we came in to go to sleep too. And we get her all tucked in and she starts singing songs. Ones that she is just making up. It is so annoying because now it is almost 10:30. She finally goes to sleep but we just keep tossing and turning because the ground is so hard, it felt like we were sleeping on concrete. And we forgot pillows. So when we wake up in the morning, at 5:30, our backs are hurting. Anyway, we have breakfast and then go on a little hike. Rylee loves hiking. So, it was very fun overall. We get to go camping this weekend again, so hopefully it will go better.

We are having so much fun this summer. Here is what we like to do:credits: everything is from Jen Wilson's Seasonal Scraps CD at www.scrapbook-bytes.com

Waiting

So we still don't have our high speed internet yet. It was installed (finally) yesterday morning. But, it's not working. The guy installed it yesterday and checked it, said it was fine, and then just left. But I couldn't get on the web! So, still waiting. Will update soon.

Good News

Wow! It's been a while! So some good news: Rylee used the potty for the first time about a week or two ago. Nothing has happened since then though, but we continue to encourage. We haven't really forced the issue either. I figure we'll push more when she gets closer to her birthday. And she learned how to ride her trike the other day. Wow! Some great milestones for her. She's getting so big, and way too fast. What a cutie though. And Cade too. It's so fun (and sometimes nerve-wracking) to see them interact. Rylee still hasn't learned how to be very gentle with him. She tries to turn his head to make him look at her. Eeek! It's amazing kids survive childhood at all. Here's a page of Rylee that I did today.

Pictures

Ok. Here are some things that I just had to share. Pictures of Cade and Rylee. What a couple of cuties I have. It's been busy busy here. Thanks to everyone putting up with our ACN stuff. We appreciate you!

And then this is a poem by Elise. I just had to share. It is beautiful. Love it.
God's Creations
How beautiful the view
That my solemn heart once knew
For I, forgotten and alone,
Is all my small heart's known

But there is one who sits on high
And He is to my heart so nigh
He says hello to my low soul
And He will always pay the toll

The stars, the moon, the sun, the sky
The feelings that make me fly so high
My friend, my light, my Lord, my King
His laws and words in my heart ring

I love the streams, the ponds, the lakes
For I know this all He makes
I know his love for me is strong
And that is why I write this song

I know I can repent
But my time is so near spent
So friend, so light, so Lord, so King
Your words in my heart will always ring

Birthday Fun

I just had to write about a funny of Rylee so that I can remember it. Cole was checking the car's engine for something (oh, I'm so glad I have him) and Rylee wants to help. Then Cole has to get in the car to rev the engine and Rylee is sitting on his lap "driving." Cole asks her where they are going. "On a trip," she says. "We gotta go visit Grandma." What a cutie. Here's a picture from when it happened. So glad I got a picture to go along with the story.

And here's a picture of our two kiddos today.

Happy Birthday to Brad, Adam and Laura. Rylee was really looking forward to Cole's birthday party (especially after going to Laura's and having ice cream cake). So on Cole's birthday we filled up a kiddie pool and let Rylee go swimming. Then we turned on the sprinklers and we all ran through. She loved it. She was shivering so bad, but still wouldn't get out of the water till I made her. So she thinks dad's birthday party was going swimming.

They're cuter when they can't talk

Wow, does my little two-year-old have some attitude. So she was in time out the other day and kept trying to get out. So I said "Sit down. You're in time out." And she says back to me with her little finger pointing right at me and in her sternest voice "No. You're in time out." It didn't help that I was on the phone with Cole and he just busted up laughing. I couldn't keep a straight face. So that's her latest thing. It's times like these that I just snuggle Cade and am so grateful that he can't talk yet. He did almost roll over the other day. He was on his back in bed and rolled to his side and about 3/4 of the way over. Oh, and he sucks his thumb. It's the cutest thing. I just hope he doesn't do it for very long. Anyway, here are some pictures. Thanks.

Visitors

Wow. Sorry I haven't posted anything for a while. It's been crazy busy here. We've had so many visitors. Brad and Karen came over for a few days with their little boys. We had so much fun! Rylee loved playing with her cousins and still talks about them everyday. She thinks they're coming over all the time and I have to tell her that they are at their house far away. She's so cute. So with Brad and Karen here, Dad came up and Laura and Maria stayed here too over Mother's Day weekend. It was such a blast. And we blessed Cade on Mother's Day. It was such a sweet day. So many people we love were here to share that with. So fun. On Monday after this, we went out with all of the kids. So neat for Brad and Karen to show their kids where they got married. And some fun pictures. Here are some of my favorites.

Then, after they left, April came to visit with Tamzen, Craig and Ryan. Tamzen had a dance competition and won grand champion. Way to go! We had fun with them.

And then, Memorial Day weekend. We went up to Idaho and spent time with family. We had so much fun visiting that we didn't get much sleep! But we had a lot of fun. More pictures to come soon!

So Excited

I am so excited! My brother and his family are coming to visit this weekend and they will be here tonight! Yay! Well, have to go finish getting ready for them- make beds, clean bathrooms, etc. Nothing else real exciting going on here. Just more of the same and trying to get caught up with stuff after Cole was so sick (poor guy). He's doing better now though. Thanks for reading everyone.

Crazy week

What a crazy week we had! Cole got sick and came home early on Wed and was out sick the rest of the week with a fever and bad cough. I finally had to drag him to the doctor on Friday- almost literally. He was so miserable- his back was hurting him so much, just from all of the coughing. The doctor said it was bronchitis but almost a pneumonia. So he got antibiotics and a good cough syrup and he was feeling better by that night. And now he is back to work. Man it was tough last week without his help.

Some Rylee funnies. On Thursday night we had a late dinner and Rylee was still eating her dessert when it was time for bed. So I started trying to get her ready by combing her hair (which she hates). And she was squirming and trying to get away and telling me to stop. So I got frustrated with her and put the comb down and said “Okay then it’s time for bed.” And she yells “No! I need to comb my hair!” I nearly died laughing. So I combed it all out and she sat as still as a statue, even through the tangles. It was amazing. Here's a scrapbook page I just did about Rylee's hair.

Page credits: Everything is by Gina Miller from scrapbookbytes.com, except "hair" alpha is by Jen Wilson.

Then some funny things she said on Sunday. We try to prep her for nursery to share with the other kids (she tends to take things a lot) by talking to her about what happens at church. It usually goes something like this- “How do we act in Nursery? We play nice and take turns and share. Right?” Well this Sunday she responds with “I don’t wanna play nice.” Well, at least she’s honest. And then so that I could get ready, we put on a movie for Rylee to watch. I guess I had been pushing the “appropriate Sunday movies” thing because as we put one in she says “I don’t want to watch a Sunday movie.” LOL

Cade is growing before our eyes. I swear he grows overnight. He just seems bigger every morning. He is getting so cute. He is starting to make the little cooing noises that babies make. I can’t even call him a newborn anymore. He’s six weeks old now. My how time flies.

They grow so fast

Kids grow up so fast! It seems my little one grows overnight. And Rylee too. They are both so fun. Rylee says something funny every day. Some recent funnies are:
"Mom, I wanna play in the sunshine"
"There's no sunshine today. See, it's cloudy"
"I wanna play in the cloudy"

Brushing Rylee's hair on Sunday before church and she has the hiccups:
"Do you have hiccups Rylee?"
"I don't want hiccups in my hair"

This weekend went by so fast. We played outside on Saturday while Cole helped a neighbor with his yard project. Here's a picture of Cole and Rylee with Molly. While Cole was helping the neighbor shovel dirt, Rylee and their little girl were playing in the dirt - she got sooo dirty. Dirt was everywhere, even in her hair! So fun to watch though.
Then on Sunday, we all took naps after church and when Rylee woke up, Cade was sitting on our bed and she jumps up to snuggle with him, or as she says "Nuggle me." So cute, I couldn't resist getting a picture.
Then on Monday, we had family night. Rylee loves family night because she immediately associates it with family night treat. So I let her "help" me make the treat- it was just a chocolate cake mix, and she got to lick the bowl. Here she is in all her chocolate face glory.Well, that's about it from here. I will try to update this at least once or twice a week. Thanks for looking.

Terrible Twos and Congrats to Laura

Okay, so on Monday I have appointments to get the kids' pictures taken. At 10:20 for Cade at JC Penny's Portrait Studio and then we'd go to Kiddie Kandids for Rylee's pictures. (I had coupons for free 8x10's at each place, so I figured why not get pictures of them in their Easter outfits and Cade's first pictures too.) So we wake up to SNOW in the middle of April. It was coming down hard, but at least it wasn't sticking to the roads. And we make it on time to the appointment in spite of the snow. Now here's the thing- the JC Penny studio is NOT kid friendly. All they had were chairs to sit in and wait. And with my energetic (to put it nicely) 2 1/2 year old, that was not cutting it. She just would not sit still at all. I had to hold her. Which worked until Cade woke up and was hungry, right before they called us in, which by the way was a half hour late. Then Cade was fussy the whole time they were trying to take his pictures and I had to keep one hand on him during the session, which left one hand for Rylee. She would not obey me to save her life. She kept running around behind the backdrops and playing with the props- little stinker. So basically it was a horrible time and I was frazzled by then. Ok, so we finish and on to Kiddie Kandids. It would be another half hour wait til they could fit us in, so we decide to wait (I don't get to the mall that often and did not want to come back and do this again another day). However, as the name implies, are very kid friendly. They have a little playroom with toys and a TV. So we hang out in there and they are ready for us on time and take some very very cute pictures of Rylee. After we're done and they are giving me the sales pitch, both kids start crying and acting up, so we just get the free picture and leave (It is so nap time by now). Here are Rylee's pictures- they turned out soooo cute. I am very happy with this studio, but their prices are horribly expensive. Oh well, we'll probably just stick to the Walmart portriat studio. (Sorry no pictures of Cade)

Easter:
Our Easter weekend was fun. We went to a party that Cole's Aunt Jeniel throws every year. They have a lunch and easter egg hunt for the kids. Rylee loved it. She had so much fun playing with the other kids there and getting the candy. We also brought Elise, Matthew, Jenna and Peter with us to the party and then they came home with us to dye eggs and play games at our house. It was a fun, full day of parties!

Congrats to Laura:
Last night we went to Laura's Intramural Basketball game- she made it to the Championships. And WON!!! Yeah!! Awesome game!!

Little guy

We'll see how good I am at typing with one hand. This little guy likes to be held. I can't believe we have a night owl and an early bird all in one. Last night he was awake from 10-11, then he wakes up at 6am every morning. How is a mom supposed to get some sleep? Oh well. At least Rylee's not up yet. Here are pictures of little Cade.

Funny Kid

Rylee is so funny sometimes. She just cracks me up with the things she says. Tuesday at lunch- we were eating tomato soup and Rylee, out of the blue says "Great soup Mrs. Q. Yummm." with the hand motions too (rubbing her belly at the end). Which is straight out of Shrek 2. I can't beleive what a sponge she is. I guess that's a two year old for you. Here are pictures of her dancing around the living room. She likes to dance to the songs in her Disney movies, but her "dress" is the ottoman slipcover ruffle. She always takes it off and steps into it and then twirls around the room in it. It's the funniest thing. This day she is dancing to the credits of "Hercules." Crazy kid.
