Can't think of any new ones. Here's a funny though. So I got an overdue notice from the library for a kid's book this month, but I know I returned all of the ones we had. I call them up and tell them that I thought I had returned it. So they put it on their hold list and if it ever came in they would let me know. A few weeks pass and it never turns up at home. Then we get a call from the Library- they found it. Well, someone else had found it. On the ground. By the train tracks about a mile away. It was totally destroyed. From what I can figure, it either a) never made it to the car and a certain little boy dropped it in the parking lot or b) it fell out of the car when we were out running errands that day. So we bought another book from the library. Boy, this membership is getting pricey!
What movies, television shows, plays, etc. did I watch this month?
On Netflix we watched Congo, Aeon Flux, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Star Trek, Just Married, When in Rome, 500 Days of Summer and The Duchess.
What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?
We had a chance to get together with my family for my Grandma's funeral. It was so great to see everyone even though it was a sad occasion.
Cole has started hunting season and he had a big trip this month with his dad and brothers to hunt Antelope in Eastern Idaho. They each got one (I'll spare you and not post the picture) and came home early!
Something else I started doing is watching my niece's kids once a week. She and her family are living with my sister-in-law for a little while and she wanted to go to a Church Education class once a week. So we trade kids a couple of days every week. It's been fun to have our kids get to know each other better.
What gifts did I give and/or receive?
Rylee had a birthday party for a friend, then they had a party for the families after that. We gave her a jump rope that I hope she enjoyed. It's nice having friends with kids the same ages.
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
Getting kids ready for a funeral. Cade had outgrown his Sunday shoes, but I had been putting off buying new ones waiting for a good deal. Well, with the funeral coming I had to do it sooner rather than later. I went to Payless and Target and the best deal I could find was $17. For little boys' shoes. I don't usually spend that much on shoes for me, let alone some half the size.
Speaking of shoes, I totally scored at the thrift store this month! I found some cute nude colored open-toe heels (with the original tag still on), brown heeled boots, some tops and sweaters all for under $50. Sweet!
While we were in Utah for the funeral, I got to stop by IKEA! I bought some Christmas presents for the kids and a few curtain rods and throw pillows for a future room makeover. So not too expensive, but still a fun trip.
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?Maria did a post on this, but here's the picture I took:
That silver car in the middle is Maria's. In the backseat is Rylee. Amazingly, they were both okay. Maria had a seat belt burn and Rylee had a little bump on her head. Rylee was crying at first and Maria was pretty shaken up, but by the time they had it cleaned up and both cars off the road Rylee was talking about how lucky they were to be wearing seat belts and how Maria gets to have a new car now. Kids are so resilient aren't they?
Cole and I had Eye Doctor appointments this month. We both got contacts. I was surprised Cole wanted contacts because he can not touch his eye, but he practiced and he likes them. Now we just need to get the prescriptions filled. The eye doctor we went to last year is not covered under our new insurance. So now we need to find a new place to go to.
What were my accomplishments this month?
Surviving another funeral. Like I told my boss at work, my kids have lost four grandparents in a year and a half. Good thing we still have some left.
What were my disappointments this month?
Exercising self-control at IKEA. I even told Cole before I went that I would stay within the budget. Darn it.
Anything else noteworthy to include?
One thing I love about this time of year is the Farmer's Market. I love to go and get a fresh dinner of corn on the cob and handmade tamales. So yummy! It's a family favorite!Here are some scrapbook pages:
