Rylee's Report

So Rylee's report of her first day was so funny. She says:

  • She had 4 mini corn dogs, applesauce and chocolate milk for lunch.
  • She made a new friend that sits at her table.
  • She sits next to one of her really good friends, but didn't get in trouble. (I was worried that they would talk too much.)
  • They got to play outside on the playground 3 times.
  • She liked the monkey bars the best.
  • One of the times that they were outside they played pretend monsters/dinosaurs that would attack the other kids and she and some other kids saved her new friend when she got attacked.
  • Her new tennis shoes were so hot on her feet that she had to take them off on the bus on the way home. "I had to keep them on all day, Mom!" (The bus had to wait for her to put them back on before she got off. BTW I walk with her to and from the bus stop because it's across a 2 lane highway at the end of our street. It just makes me a little nervous.)

That's about it. Just some background- The school district where we live changed the Kindergarten schedule this year. They go all day on a block schedule. It seemed like Rylee was gone for such a long time yesterday! A lot of people do not like the all day block schedule, so we'll see how it goes.

Rylee's First Day of Kindergarten

Rylee's first day was yesterday, but let me back up.

Tuesday Rylee wasn't feeling very well, but I thought she was just tired or whiney or whatever, so I took all the kids to the store in the afternoon anyway. Well, we had our first "cleanup in aisle 5" experience. She threw up just before we reached the bathroom at Albertson's. It was a mess. I felt really sorry for the guy cleaning it up. She kept throwing up all that evening too. She asked for a blessing that night and Cole's brother came over to help.

She woke up the next morning (after coming in to sleep with us at 1am) at 6:00 and she was so excited for school- who was going to be there, what they were going to do, would they play on the playground, what was for lunch, etc, etc. She was feeling better- no more throwing up. She had a bath, got dressed and got on the bus.

Barely an hour after school started, we got a call to come pick her up. She was in the nurse's office saying she didn't feel well. She had a low temp of 99 something. She was crying because she wanted to stay at school.

After she got home, she slept on the couch for 3 hours. Then woke up and ate a lunch of soda and pudding. Dinner was her first real solid meal since she was sick and she's been fine since.

This first week of kindergarten was a staggered start- half the students went Wed, the other half Thurs. So I called to see if it was okay that she went today. She was doubly excited for school today. We walked to the bus stop and took pictures (can you believe I forgot my camera yesterday, her first day!). And now we're just waiting for her to come home and report.

I can't wait to hear all about her day.
