Books? What are those? I have a mile long list of books I want to read, but still need to get from the library. Any recommendations?
What movies, television shows, plays, etc. did I watch this month?
We watched: Under the Tuscan Sun, Valentine's Day, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, Old Dogs (so funny) and Mickey Blue Eyes. I also watched a few old episodes of Jon and Kate Plus Eight and Say Yes to the Dress.
What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends?
The kids had swim lessons. It was their first time doing this and we had to squeeze it into our summer. It was one week long of one hour classes at the city pool. And it was the only week I could be at the same place at the same time everyday. The stars must have been aligned :)
We had nieces and nephews (Cole's sister that died- her kids) here visiting everyone for a week. It's always so nice to see them and spend time with them.
I got my first photography gig! My sister-in-law asked me to take pictures at my niece's wedding reception. It was so much fun! Here's some favorites:
Our nephew came home from his mission in South Dakota, so we went to his homecoming talk and then had a family dinner that night.
Rylee started first grade! She was so excited for the first day of school that she had her clothes all set out and her lunch made two days before. Along with the start of school, we went out on a Mommy Date, just her and I, to shop for clothes and supplies. It was complete with a lunch out together. We had a lot of fun. She also got a new haircut (her first professional one) because during the summer she cut off a chunk of hair at her forehead- it was in her way while she was coloring- so I wanted someone to cut and style it who actually knew what they were doing. What gifts did I give and/or receive? We gave my niece and her new hubby a nice framed picture of Christ at their reception.
What special or unusual purchases did I make?
Nothing that I can think of. Just the shopping for Rylee's clothes. We didn't spend a whole lot of money and then she got some hand-me-downs from someone in the ward. But she loves what she has and it's fun to see her pick out her own clothes.
What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
We all went to the dentist this month! Three kids at the same time. That was some juggling. Telena's first appointment. Rylee's an old pro- she totally loves going to the dentist (or tooth doctor she calls him). And Cade did well too. Cole and I went too. And all of us had no cavities! Yay!
What were my accomplishments this month?
Surviving the last crazy busy weeks of summer! Some days were so packed full we were scheduled every minute. And I was going in to work more often with classes and meetings and such (thank goodness for great summer babysitters!).
I also made a few photobooks. My sister-in-law told me about a free book offer through Picaboo, so I made 3. One was a half-finished book from December 2008, one was of our vacation to Texas and one was of Rylee's Kindergarten work (which took forever to scan, but felt so good to throw away!).
What were my disappointments this month?
Nothing I can really think of. It was so busy with school starting that I just had to focus on the essentials. Which was good. I even got semi-organized for school- going through Rylee's Kindergarten papers and all of the kids clothes, separating out the ones that didn't fit anymore.
Anything else noteworthy to include?
Rylee had her first show & tell at school (she was one of the first- it pays to have a last name at the beginning of the alphabet right?) and she took seashells from Galveston Beach in her little flag bucket she got while on vacation.
Oh and we filled up our pool finally. And it broke. So we got one swim in this summer. Oh well.
