Telena is finally getting some more teeth in- I swear she's been teething for months now. One just poked through on Saturday. Then on Sunday, she took her first steps- to Daddy of course (I'll never hear the end of it either- first smile, first word, and now first steps all to Daddy). This picture is the cutest- she is loving her tongue, blowing raspberries all the time. And she's wearing a new headband that I made. And those gorgeous blue eyes. I can't believe she turns one this week! She needs to stop growing! No more of this!On the opposite side though, she also has discovered an ear-piercing screech. It's the kind that gives you an instant headache. I don't even know what to do about it though. I've tried ignoring it, but that only makes her do it more- til she gets attention. And I've tried patting her mouth and saying "no, no" when she does it, but that just sends her into a crying fit. Any advice out there?
Cade, Cade, Cade. What a cute little boy. He got some scrapes from a pillow fight with Daddy on Saturday. Cole gave him a good whack with the pillow and Cade fell into the side table. And the table won. He is just the cutest. He always asks for me to snuggle with him at nap or bedtime. He says "put your feet up mom." And he shares his blanket with me and we talk for a few minutes. It's one of the best times of the day- I need to do it more often. He loves going with me to check on the animals. He loves just watching them and climbs up on the fence to see over it and look at the pigs. (BTW- we have one more pig added to our family- a big daddy pig named Buster. We're hoping to breed to two females we have soon and then we'll have piglets this spring.) He holds my hand as we walk out the pig pen and then he watches as I feed them and his job is to get the chicken eggs and carry them inside- I just have to make sure he doesn't chase the chickens and scare them all.The things he says are so funny. He's started verbalizing that he can do things himself. "I'm doing it my own self." Also "Daddy's doing it his own self." I love it. And when I get after Rylee for something, he has to tell me that he was doing the opposite of whatever she got in trouble for. Usually it's something along the lines of "Mom, I not in time out" or "Mom, I being nice."
On the other hand, he is just all boy. It just astounds me how active and how much he just gets into things. I feel like every time I turn my back on him, he does something or gets into something he's not supposed to. I am always so thankful for naptime.
This is Rylee playing soccer. The town has a mini soccer league for kids age 3-5 (quite the spread in age and development, which is quite funny to watch- some kids run away from the ball and some kids are real go-getters). Rylee loved playing, especially when she got to be the goalie. She hardly ever let any get by her- actually I think only one her two ever made it in the net when she was guarding it. This picture sums it up nicely- the look of glee on her face when she caught the ball. It's funny to watch little kids play soccer for the first time because they all want to pick up the ball and use their hands. She loved goalie, but not so much the running after the ball to kick it. She had to be encouraged alot to go after it, but when she did she played really well. I don't know if she ever made any goals, but she had lots of fun and made some new friends. So anyway- a good first sporting experience for Rylee. On the flip side for Rylee though is her attitude. She is staring to be the sassiest little thing and giving me attitude from the moment she wakes up. She seems to be in timeout constantly for the way she talks to me. I think I tell her 10 times a day to speak kindly and that's what we say and how we say it. It's not usually what she says that gets her in time out, but it's how she says it. She already sounds like a stubborn, sassy teenager. Boy I can't wait til then! [insert sarcasm here]
